May was second-best month ever for US commercial gaming – Finance

The American Gaming Association (AGA) reports that US commercial betting revenue reached $ 5.03 billion (£ 4.25 billion / € 5.02 billion) in May, the second highest month in industry history.

This was an early stage of Covid-19’s recovery from the pandemic, up 7.9% from May 2021.

Slots continued to generate the highest total game revenue (GGR) overall, down 0.1% year-on-year to $ 2.94 billion.

Table game GGR was up 10.5% year-on-year to $ 873.9 million, and sports betting revenue was up 78.2% to $ 487.5 million.

Online game revenue also increased by 30.9% to $ 406.4 million.

The total GGR for the past year was $ 24.39 billion, an increase of 20.6% from the same period in 2021.

Over the past year, slot revenue has increased 11% to $ 14.08 billion and table game revenue has increased 38.2% to $ 4.05 billion.

Over the past year, sports betting revenue has increased 73.5% to $ 2.64 billion. Online game GGR also increased significantly by 45.6% to $ 2.03 billion.

AGA also noted that March, April and May were the three most successful months in industry history, with revenues in excess of $ 5 billion each.

In May, AGA reported a record first quarter in commercial game revenue.
