A council meeting in Washington, DC branded Gambet as a “failed operation” after the sports betting monopoly failed to generate the expected returns.
At a meeting on July 13, DC Council Chairman Kenyan McDuffie said the Gambet issue had existed since its inception.
“Since its inception in 2020, DC’s sports betting program has repeatedly experienced operational challenges,” said McDuffie. “This challenge has directly contributed to the delay in launching retail stores and the inability to create a strong customer base for the district’s mobile app, Gambet DC.”
