Sports betting operator SuperBook Sports has announced a new partnership with MLB team Baltimore Orioles. This includes building a sportsbook sports lounge at the club’s Oriole Park at Camden Yards Ballpark.

SuperBook does not currently have a Maryland sports betting license, and the deal marks the company’s first foray into the state’s regulated sports betting market. As such, the partnership is subject to relevant approvals from the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC).

Operating in Nevada since 1986, SuperBook’s online brand has expanded as sports betting expanded to other states. In June, the operator expanded into Tennessee through his partnership with International Game Technology (IGT).

Orioles chief revenue officer TJ Brightman praised the deal in a statement.

“As our organization strives to make Charm City a candidate for the next World Series, we have a unique opportunity to engage with Birdland’s diverse fan base and welcome new visitors to downtown Baltimore. The addition of the SuperBook sportsbook only strengthens the iconic ballpark’s position as one of the region’s premier entertainment destinations.”

The Sports Lounge allows fans to place bets while watching live games at the same time, allowing both retail and online betting.

In addition to building the physical facility, the partnership will also include SuperBook branding that will be placed throughout the venue. This includes center field scoreboards, home his plate his signatures, and onsite his activations during games. Operator branding will be featured on the MLB Ballpark App and team social media pages.

Kristen Mackey SuperBook Sports Vice President of Marketing added:

He continued to emphasize the historic nature of the stadium.

“The legacy and heritage of the Orioles brand fits perfectly into the Superbook brand. We look forward to sharing the experience with you.

“The future is bright for the Orioles and we look forward to continuing to grow together.”

Legal retail sports betting in Maryland will begin in December 2021, with Republican Governor Larry Hogan making the first bet at MGM National Harbor. Nonetheless, there was a legislative pushback to the new status quo: In January, state senators Ronald Young and Michael Hough introduced Senate Bill 297, banning betting within a 15-mile radius of sports betting venues.
