Allwyn appoints agencies to drive National Lottery marketing

Allwyn has appointed Leo Burnett and VCCP as joint creative agency for the UK National Lottery.

Under the deal, Leo Burnett will run campaigns for the National Lottery brand. The agency also plans to revamp its plans for instant lottery games and improve linkages between national lottery games and philanthropic activities.

VCCP oversees marketing communications for Lotto and Set For Life games. It also manages rollover and jackpot-specific campaigns for draw-based games.

Alwyn said this multi-agency approach helps build awareness for individual product brands. The company says this will increase the number of campaigns and maximize reach.

A spokesperson for Allwyn said, “We are delighted to appoint these two leading agencies to support our vision for the National Lottery.” “The competitiveness of the marketing process shows that the National Lottery is attractive to many people.

“We hope that both institutions will devise effective and compelling campaigns to further broaden their appeal and make the National Lottery even more relevant to more people in a safe and sustainable manner.” I look forward to

4th National Lottery License

Allwyn received its fourth national lottery license last September and will take over control in February 2024. This marks the end of his 28-year tenure as Camelot operator.

This came after the Gambling Commission announced in March 2022 that Allwyn, formerly known as Sazuka, was a preferred applicant.

The announcement was met with backlash from both Camelot and Camelot’s technology provider, IGT. Both companies criticized the decision and eventually challenged it in court.

Camelot filed a legal challenge to the decision in April 2022, accusing the committee of failing to communicate openly. Camelot also said employees “have a proper accountability” as to why their licenses were not renewed.

This caused the High Court to automatically suspend the licensing decision.

However, in September Camelot withdrew its appeal to the High Court. This follows reports that money for legitimate purposes could be at risk in a lengthy lawsuit, removing Allwyn’s last hurdle in obtaining a license.

Earlier this year, Allwyn completed its acquisition of Camelot UK from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board (OTPP).

Allwyn also entered into an agreement to acquire the US-based Camelot Lottery Solutions division from Ontario Teachers.
