The Victoria State Government will pilot a new program designed to provide treatment and support services tailored to people in Australian states affected by gambling harm.
This scheme was developed based on feedback from support services Gambler’s Help and aims to improve the pathways for people seeking treatment for coexistence such as mental health problems in addition to the harm of gambling through the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation. Funded.
This program provides relevant medical professionals with new ways to screen patients to determine the best treatment. It also increases access and training to practitioners working in the mental health, alcohol and other drug sectors, treating people vulnerable to gambling.
Patients are asked if they want to gamble and practitioners can help them find the most suitable treatments and services and remove some of the barriers faced by those seeking help.
The training will be led by Clinical Consultant Dr. Jane Oakes and Foundation Principal Clinical Advisor Tony Clarkson. This is provided to practitioners of Ballarat Community Health, Child and Family Services, and Salvation Army Health Services.
Melissa Horn, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Gambling and Liquor Control, said, “Everyone experiences the harm of gambling in different ways, and coordinated treatment options are very important for long-term recovery. This is exactly this tool. Is what it offers. “
The pilot scheme will begin earlier this month after the Victoria State Government announces a set of new measures and requirements to protect consumers from harm during online gambling and promote responsible gambling.
The introduction of the new rules will be phased in, the first rules will come into effect on July 31, and the gambling service provider will be required to provide all customers with a monthly statement of activity. The previous month’s statement must also be available on request or from your online betting account.
Other new measures introduced include betting service providers that ensure that customers have access to their betting account transaction records, that all parties complete the responsible service of their betting training courses, and customers agree. Includes direct marketing that allows you to create a new betting account without having to.
