AstroPay appoints Sofía Lanza as chief banking officer –

Online payment service AstroPay has appointed Sofía Lanza as its new Chief Banking Officer.

In her new role, Lanza will be responsible for developing and managing the company’s relationships with international banks and clearinghouses, engaging them on a daily basis.

Lanza has a legal background after having held numerous legal positions after graduating from the University of Montevideo Law School in 2013 and joining AstroPay as General Counsel in 2018. An officer, she led the business’ corporate development efforts.

AstroPay CEO Mikael Lijtenstein said:

“She brings great experience to a dynamic company like AstroPay and her leadership and expertise remain an asset to the business.

Her passion for innovation and growth aligns closely with our mission, and we are delighted to work with her to drive adoption of our solutions to financial institutions around the world. ”

Lanza’s new role marks the second management turnover this month, following news just days ago that Fayyaz Ansari would become the company’s new chief financial officer.

“I am impressed with AstroPay’s strong growth and extraordinary progress so far, and I am making the most of this new opportunity the company has provided,” said Lanza. “Working with a multicultural team that is highly motivated and passionate about innovation is exciting and rewarding.

“AstroPay is on the road to expanding its business, reaching users around the world, and making payments accessible to everyone, regardless of location, language or economic situation.”

The news comes after AstroPay announced the launch of a new affiliate program as part of its efforts to grow its consumer base.
