The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has issued a national lottery license to the Malta-based operator National Lottery PLC to allow it to take over the operation of the national lottery.
The new license is valid for 10 years and will be replaced by Maltco Lotteries Limited as the lottery operator by National Lottery PLC, a subsidiary of the IZI Group.
In July 2021, the Government of Malta’s Privatization Unit issued a proposal request to all parties interested in taking over the operation of the lottery, granting these exclusive rights to the National Lottery PLC.
In March of this year, a concession agreement was signed between the Ministry of Economy of Malta, the European Fund and the National Lottery PLC, clarifying how to issue a license.
The National Lottery PLC will be the first fully owned company in Malta to run the lottery for the first time in 18 years.
“Authorities are confident that the concessionaire will invest all the resources it needs to maintain the highest levels of operational and compliance standards, and as has already been revealed, take care of players and play games. We will invest in our best efforts to avoid this, which will do harm, “said Carl Brincat, CEO of MGA.
Silvio Shemburi, Minister of Economy, European Funds and Land of Malta, said: Introducing other games that will further enhance your game portfolio.
“Together, the National Lottery PLC has ensured that it is committed to actively promoting, designing, and practicing responsible gaming principles while protecting the personal well-being of players. The economic benefits of the country resulting from it should be emphasized, but not at the expense of the player. “
Johann Schemebri, Chief Executive Officer of the National Lottery PLC, also said: The license obtained from the Malta Gaming Authority confirms our efforts and our commitment to provide innovative, positive, and above all, fair and transparent national lottery services. “
License verification will take place last week after National Lottery PLC signed a contract with EveryMatrix and International Game Technology (IGT) to provide online games and technology to Malta’s National Lottery.
