KSA orders Gammix to exit market or pay €1.4m weekly fines – Legal & compliance

Dutch game regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has imposed a cease and desist order on Malta-based operator Gammix for illegally providing games to Dutch customers.

Gammix did not have a license to operate in the Netherlands, and as a result, it violated Dutch gambling law, so it was decided to impose this order.

On March 1st and 8th, 2022, KSA surveyed Gammix’s two websites (rantcasino.com and nordslot.com) to see if it was possible to place a bet from the Netherlands.

Research has shown that it is possible to deposit, create a player account, and participate in games offered by the operator.

This was confirmed after KSA created a player account from a Dutch IP on both websites. This included providing name, date of birth, address details, and nationality.

This was reconfirmed on May 24th.

Regulators also found that between May 16th and June 11th, there were 24,911 visits from the Netherlands on nordslot.com, with an average visit time of approximately 5 minutes.

In contrast, rantcasino.com has received 31,328 visits from the Netherlands.

KSA also deposited money for play and scrutinized each game offered.

Operators are currently fined up to € 1.4 million (£ 1.1 million / $ 1.4 million) per week, up to a maximum if they do not stop offering these games to Dutch players within two weeks of a regulatory decision. A fine of € 4.5 million will be imposed. ..

Today, the Dutch government has announced that it will ban all “out of scope” advertising. This means that from January 1, 2023, all broadcast advertising will be banned altogether.

Also today, Unibet began to live in the country after nine months of absence due to regulatory regulations regarding license acquisition in the Netherlands.
