The tribal games business in the US will bring in a record $39 billion (£33 billion/€39 billion) in 2021, according to the National Indian Gaming Commission.
The total was 40% higher than in 2020, but 13% higher than in 2019, before the impact of Covid-19.
Not only did the total revenue hit a record high, but the year-over-year increase was also the largest on record.
However, National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) Chairman Sequoyah Simermeyer noted that many tribes are still having a difficult year and said the organization will continue to support struggling tribes.
