Entain risks losing licence over further breaches, says Rhodes

GB Gambling Commission Chief Executive Andrew Rhodes said Entain could lose its license in the UK if the group continues to violate the rules and regulations of the market.

Entain announced today (17 August) a record £17million (€20.3million/€20.3m/ 20.6 million).

The group paid £14m for the failure of LC International Limited’s online division, which operates websites such as Ladbrokes.com., Coral.co.uk and Foxybingo.com, and £14m for the failure of Ladbrokes Betting & Gaming. pay £3 million for Across the UK he is a limited land-based business operating 2,746 gambling establishments.

On the matter, Rhodes noted that this is not the first time the commission has had to take action against Enten regarding such license violations.

In July 2019, before the group rebranded as Entain, Ladbrokes Coral was handed a £5.9m fine package for organizational failures related to social responsibility and anti-money laundering measures. .

Rhodes warned that revocation of its UK business license would be a “very real possibility” if further infringements were identified within the Entain group.

“Our investigation uncovered a critical failure that resulted in the largest enforcement outcome to date,” said Rhodes. “There have been completely unacceptable anti-money laundering and safer gambling failures. Remember operators should never put commercial considerations above compliance.

“This is the second time the operator has violated rules designed to make gambling safer and crime-free.

“They should be aware that we are monitoring them very closely and that any serious violations will very likely result in revocation of their license to operate. We expect better, and consumers deserve better.”

In response to the ruling, Enten said it accepted the decision, saying that certain legacy systems and processes supporting the operation of its UK business in 2019 and 2020 were “not in line with the Commission’s evolving regulatory expectations”. admitted.

The group added that it has entered into a regulatory settlement with the commission to end the matter and avoid costly and protracted legal proceedings.

However, Entain also stressed that the commission found no evidence of criminal spending within Entain’s operations.

Further, the group said the issues raised by the commission relate to the period from December 2019 to October 2020.

Entain specifically noted that it launched its Advanced Responsibility and Care (ARC) program in 2021. The program uses his AI technology, works in real time and is individually tailored to each customer.

“Initial trials of ARC in the UK have shown over 80% accuracy in risk assessments, a 120% increase in the use of safer gambling tools by those most at risk, and an overall increase in customer risk levels. It showed a 30% reduction, Enten said.

“Additionally, in May of this year Entain was awarded the Advanced Safer Gambling Standard by GamCare, demonstrating the highest standards of player protection and social responsibility for online and land-based gambling operations in the UK. ”

As part of the settlement, Entein will also appoint a board sponsor to oversee the implementation of further improvements identified by the original 2020 compliance assessment and to conduct an independent audit of related policies and procedures in the future. I agree with you.
