Controversial online gaming business 1XBet has struck a deal with football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to allow the company to use the team’s likeness in its marketing campaigns.
The three-season deal makes 1XBet the club’s official regional partner in Africa and Asia, with the goal of expanding the deal to other regions in later seasons.
PSG’s chief partnership officer, Mark Armstrong, said the club was “delighted” to welcome 1XBet as a regional partner for the team.
“1XBet is established on a continent where the club has a huge number of supporters,” he said.
“1XBet is an ambitious stakeholder in the world of online sports betting and by working with Paris Saint-Germain we hope to solidify our leadership position in many countries.”
“Paris Saint-Germain is one of the most popular football clubs in the world,” added 1XBet spokesperson Alex Sommers. “We share a desire to succeed in all areas and to offer our fans a whole new and fulfilling online betting experience.”
1XBet has historically been controversial. The business was at the center of an investigation by UK broadsheet The Sunday Times in 2019, which found it was advertising on banned sites.
