Zeal Network, a German lottery provider, has partnered with online security specialist Nect to implement artificial intelligence (AI) identity verification technology to better protect minors from the harm of gambling.
Under this arrangement, Zeal began using Nect Ident. This is a fully automated identification based on AI for customers gambling Zeal online.
Players can identify themselves individually through the app using ID documents and selfie videos. Nect Ident can compare faces to check documents and detect attempts at digital manipulation.
Zeal says this helps ensure that users attempting to access online gambling services are of legal age, while also preventing players from creating accounts using fake identities. .
“As an online lottery provider, youth protection is central and ubiquitous to us,” said Helmut Becker, CEO of Zeal. “That’s why we value the use of innovative technologies that make the registration process secure and transparent.
“By using Nect Ident, we can further ensure that players who register for our online offer actually meet the regulatory requirements to play the lottery.”
Benny Bennet Jürgens, CEO of Nect, adds: Both benefit from AI-based identification. Users can identify themselves in a very short amount of time, and businesses can be confident that new customers are really the people they claim.
“We are pleased to partner with Zeal to modernize new customer registration for lotteries.”
