South Australia opens submissions for SkyCity investigation – Land-based casino

The Ontario Liquor Gaming Commission (OLGC) has published a submission to support its own research into the Sky City Entertainment Group and its onshore casino business in the state.

Earlier this month, OLGC announced that it would begin reviewing operators and their Sky City Adelaide casino facilities following a similar survey of onshore casino activities in New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland. ..

Crown Resorts is considered unsuitable for operating a casino in New South Wales. Victoria Star Entertainment is subject to ongoing review in both New South Wales and Queensland.

When the OLGC began its own research, many of the issues raised so far in other out-of-state reviews “extended beyond one organization” and became broader and more systematic within the casino industry. He said he was pointing out a problem.

To support this, the industry, stakeholders, and the wider community have been invited to submit submissions, and OLGC seeks feedback from those who may have information relevant to the review. Says that

Retired Supreme Court Judge Bryan Martin AO QC is tasked with leading the review to ensure that Sky City’s operating practices are still suitable for holding casino licenses in South Australia.

“Mr. Martin is a highly respected member of the legal profession,” said OLGC Commissioner Dini Solio. “He conducted a review of South Australia’s major criminal justice policies, including reforms in the handling of major prosecution offenses and a state judgment discount system.

“I am confident that he will provide a report so that people in South Australia can be confident in how Adelaide Casino operates.”
