Victoria introduces new measures to tackle online gambling harm – Legal & compliance

The Victoria State Government has announced a set of new measures and requirements to protect consumers from harm during online gambling and promote responsible gambling in the Australian state, including restrictions on direct marketing.

Under the direction of the Minister, this measure is an interactive gambling and gambling service for all, including all interstate gambling service providers that provide interactive gambling and gambling services to Victorians, and customers of interstate highways. Applies to Victorian-licensed betting service providers that offer.

The introduction of new rules has been deferred, with the first rule taking effect on July 31st. This requires the betting service provider to provide all customers with a monthly activity statement. The previous month’s statement must also be available on request or from your online betting account.

The customer must have access to the transaction record of the betting account immediately after the player makes the request or within 14 days.

Bet service providers who are unable to comply with these requirements by the end of the month may apply for an extension to comply by November 14. However, such a request can only be made if the operator has good reason, such as a business disruption due to a new coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Beginning March 31, 2023, betting service providers must ensure that all parties complete the responsible service of their betting training courses. This applies to employees, contractors, and directors involved in the provision of betting services or decisions that affect the services provided.

Business-related staff on February 28, 2023 must complete initial training by March 31, 2023. New staff, on the other hand, must undergo initial training within one month of hiring.

In addition, all eligible personnel are required to participate in annual re-education training within 12 months of completing the initial training and annually thereafter. Training records must be retained for at least 7 years and can be requested by the Victoria Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC).

Finally, as of June 30, 2023, betting service providers bet without new customers agreeing to direct marketing or taking additional steps to opt out of receiving direct marketing. You need to be able to create an account.
