French horse racing operator Paris Mutuel Irvine (PMU) has made a series of changes to the senior management team after Philippe Augier was announced to resign as chairman.
Augier became chairman of the PMU Board of Directors in June 2020, and in October last year also assumed the role of Executive Committee Chairman in charge of general control.
At today’s (July 8th) General Assembly, PMU’s Board of Directors proposes to appoint Richard Viel as the new chair of the Board and Emmanuel Marekay’s Doublet as Managing Director of the Business.
Viel is the former CEO of Bouygues Telecom, a French mobile and internet service provider and IPTV business, and has played a role since joining the group in 1998 as Director of Customer Operations.
Malecaze-Doublet has been with PMU since September 2018 and has recently been Deputy General Manager. Prior to that, he spent nearly six years at McKinsey & Company and was an Associate Partner before joining PMU.
If Malecaze-Doublet’s appointment is approved as expected, she will be the first woman to serve as Managing Director of PMU.
“During my term as President of PMU, I was always enthusiastic about modernizing and contributing to the promotion of PMU. PMU is a formidable company that is devoted, useful and undergoing major changes.” Augier said.
“Despite the economic and health crises experienced by the PMU and the horse racing industry as a whole, we were able to deal collectively.
“Thanks to Emmanuelle Malecaze-Doublet for his constant involvement on my part. I am confident in the future and the entire management committee is fulfilling that commitment.
“I now want to be able to focus not only on my duties as a civil servant elected in Deauville, but also on new personal projects.”
