Macau locks down Lisboa due to Covid outbreak – Land-based casino

Macau has closed its hotels and casinos in Grand Lisboa because of Covid’s concerns due to an incident at a gambling hub in Asia.

Liz Lam Tong Hou of the Macao Government Tourism Office announced the news at a press conference at the new Coronavirus Response Coordination Center. A similar outbreak closed a total of 17 buildings across the region.

In this area, 146 new infections were reported on Wednesday. Since June, a total of more than 1,000 infections have occurred. More than 14,000 people have been quarantined throughout the city.

Resort owner SJM Holdings said in a statement Wednesday that “health and safety of all guests and employees is a top priority, so we will continue to implement strict containment measures.”

The news came shortly after the Macau Parliament approved a major reform of casino regulations.
